Enabling usbboot mode

@João Oliveira Hello! This is a bit off topic for this particular post, but I'll try to help. Please create a new post next time. /sbin/boot.sh is a file created and controlled by Axzez for our specific image. It is called by /mnt/cmdline.txt during boot up. cmdline.txt is a plain text file that allows you to pass parameters to the kernel. In our case we are using "init" to call our "boot.sh".

Since my doubts are related to the USBboot, I thought it was a good place to ask.

Like I said, my CM4 is already booting from eMMC but it's impossible to edit the bootloader while connected to the Interceptor.

I've tried to use a USB stick with your OS attached but the Interceptor keeps booting from eMMC and I can't seem to override it.

Hence my questions.

What I will try now is to mount your written OS (on the USB) on the eMMC and copy that particular file (boot.sh) to the eMMC /sbin and edit the cmdline.txt (on the eMMC /boot) to call it and see if it writes the changes to the bootloader.

I'm only doing this to prevent to have to move the CM4 to a Carrier board and do it as per instructed on the Raspberry Documentation.

@João Oliveira thank you for the clarification. You can do this:

1. Flash our installer image to a USB flash drive

2. Insert it into the Interceptor Carrier Board USB port

3. Boot to our menu

4. Select "Install..."

5. Select the USB flash drive with our imager (not a HDD or eMMC)

6. Install to this USB location and follow the instructions

7. This will update the eeprom with our recommended configuration

Alternatively, you can try the Raspberry Pi rpi-eeprom-config tool, but we have seen random failures with this. Documented here: https://www.raspberrypi.com/documentation/computers/raspberry-pi.html#updating-the-eeprom-configuration
