Noob question re: Suitable Harddrives

I'm about to order 5 Seagate HSMR 18TB Exos X20z drives for the Interceptor-based NAS I want to build. I have all the other hardware onhand, but before investing in the drives I'm hoping to hear if there are problems with the drives and the Interceptor/Pi CM4 system. TIA - Bob

Hi @robert_dunlop,

I apologize for the delay. We really cannot recommend any specific HDDs/SSDs, but I can say that, with all brands used in our testing, we have not seen issues. No customers have reported issues with any HDDs/SSDs either (to our knowledge).

That sounds like a nice setup you have there, @robert_dunlop. I'll leave this thread open for a bit in case others have questions about what you did or want to discuss HDDs.

FWIW - went with the current OMV 6.x after a lot of thought about their app vs. Samba. My only real concern was integrating it into my LAN which is running a Samba Windows Domain Controller (on a separte CM4). Now it's time to figue out a data migration plan for my main workstation (with several TB of image and video files) along with the other machines on the network. For awhile instead of musical chairs, it's going to be musical storage media... :)
